Operational Phases of the Restoration
1. Stratigraphic Tests
Execution of stratigraphic investigations to identify the historical phases and define the original configuration of the building.
2. Preventive Securing
Localized pinning using high-adhesion fiberglass rods and stainless steel elements to stabilize architectural parts at risk of falling or detachment.
3. Cleaning of Surfaces
Intervention using low-pressure hot water and compresses with paper pulp and ammonium carbonate for the controlled removal of black crusts and adherent patinas.
Cleaning of stone elements through controlled micro-sandblasting with selected inert materials to remove more resistant deposits while respecting the original material.
4. Cortical and Structural Consolidation
Application of ethyl silicate for surface consolidation and insertion of carbon fiber pins (15–20 cm) to re-establish the connection between plaster, stone, and sound masonry.
5. Filling and Architectural Reconstructions
Restoration of lacunae with mortars prepared on site (lime, marble powder, and selected sand) and faithful reconstruction of decorative elements using molds and casts.
6. Lime Finishing
Application of lime-based glazing in several coats to ensure breathability, chromatic uniformity, and proper integration of the restored surfaces.
